Explore Engineering: Trent and Mersey Canal

About this event

The Trent & Mersey Canal links the Mersey to the River Trent and hence the Humber and thus Liverpool to Hull. It was the first of the major inland waterways, a key component of the industrial revolution.

Walk and talk the round trip from Stoke to Longport along a level, surfaced, disabled accessible footpath from Stoke to Longport finishing at the Etruria Industrial Museum.

The walk is a level, wheelchair accessible, hard surfaced, 6 mile round trip along the Trent & Mersey Canal tow path from Stoke on Trent Railway Station to Westport Lake. There are cafés and RADAR key toilets at both ends of the route: a simple South to North route.

Meet at Stoke-on-Trent railway station, outside the main entrance to Platform 1, at 12:30pm.

All day parking £4 alongside the station.  Free all-day parking a 5 minute walk to the South at Wharf Road, ST4 1ET.
