About this event

Achieving desired quality and productivity are long standing challenges for the construction industry, with a slow uptake in new technologies relative to other sectors such as manufacturing being a key factor. New technologies are identified by many, including Construction 2025, as a means of increasing productivity but the forms that these technologies take and therefore the required skill set of those that carry out the works is still for us to determine.

This talk investigates the topic in the context of delivering the Main Civil Works contract for Hinkley Point C Nuclear New Build, a contract that will be undertaken by a joint venture of Laing O’Rourke and Bouygues Travaux Public.

The speaker Dr Williamson is a technical director with Laing O’Rourke, she has a BEng and PhD in Structural Engineering and is a Chartered Structural Engineer.

Sarah is currently Laing O’Rourke technical lead for the Hinkley Point C main civil work contract with a value upwards of £2.8bn. She has spearheaded the adoption and implementation of digital technologies on the project releasing the opportunity for improvements in safety, quality and delivery.
