In term of connecting east and west of Kowloon, road traffic is one of the options for the public. Corridors such as Lung Cheung Road, Prince Edward Road and Boundary Street, serve as major accesses for people to commute between districts in East Kowloon and West Kowloon. However, most of the existing corridors have reached their capacities, resulting in severe traffic congestion. In light of the existing traffic congestion and the rapidly growing traffic demand in Hong Kong, specifically the new CBD2 in East Kowloon, the XRL station and the cultural district in West Kowloon, Central Kowloon Route (CKR) will become an alternative route to improve traffic conditions along its alignment.
The topic of the technical seminar will be “Connecting the East and West – Central Kowloon Route”. Ms Ada Lai will give a presentation on planning, design and construction of Central Kowloon Route.
