Join us to hear the winners from Branch heats present their paper to an audience and judging panel to decide Scotland's entry into the UK wide final to take place in the Autumn.


  • Katherine Montgomery from Heriot-Watt University (EAB) will present her Analysis of the Civil Engineering Considerations and Effectiveness of Ultraviolet Water Purification paper
  • Kate Ivanova from Atkins (AACE) will present her paper on Structural Integrity of Ageing North Sea platforms, and specifically, the challenges associated with maintenance safety critical components such walkways and escape routes.
  • Emily Alfred of Transport Scotland (G&WoS Branch) will present on her experience of working as a Graduate on the iconic Queensferry Crossing with particular focus on her roles in Health and Safety, Temporary Works Design, and Communications and Engagement.

This competition gives young engineers the chance to practice writing and presentation in preparation for a viva or Professional Review. Papers on any area of engineering design, research or practice are sought.

Refreshments from 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.
