Join the ICE South West Regional Committee for an online Annual General Meeting (AGM) to celebrate the achievements of civil engineers and reveal exciting plans for 2022.
Katy Toms, the outgoing Chair will highlight key milestones from the past year and provide an update on regional initiatives.
Stuart Allen, the new Chair will give an address on his vision for the future of ICE South West and how regional members can get involved on key issues such as net zero and equality.
There’s also an opportunity to find out about the region’s outstanding projects of 2021, as the finalists of the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards present an overview of their schemes and answer questions from the audience.
ICE South West Chair (outgoing)
Katy is a Principal Engineer at WSP. She graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2012; after a year with SKM in London, Katy moved back to the South West to AECOM, moving to WSP in 2017. Katy became a Chartered Member of the Institution in 2016 and was selected as one of the ‘Top 100 Most Influential Women in Engineering in the UK & Europe’ by Inclusive Boards and the Financial Times in 2019. Katy has worked on a variety of major projects in the South West, including the Forder Valley Link Road, the helipad at Derriford Hospital and the South Yard Development in Devonport, Plymouth. Katy has also completed a voluntary project, ‘STEM Build Malawi’, constructing a science and IT facility for a secondary school, leading an international team of 25 women to complete the construction and deliver STEM workshops with the students.
ICE South West Chair (incoming)
Stuart is an Incorporated Engineer and Member of ICE. He is also a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the South West Infrastructure Partnership steering group. He has a degree in River and Coastal Engineering at the University of the West of England (Bristol) and Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management. Stuart has a long and diverse career in asset, project and construction management, working for multiple public sector organisations across the South West of England – Environment Agency, West Dorset District Council, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and Dorset Council. Stuart currently holds the position of Programme Delivery Deputy Director (Assignment) at the Environment Agency.
