A radically different approach to health and safety.
A radically different approach to health and safety.

About this event

Over the last few decades the construction sector has invested millions of pounds to improve the safety and health of construction operatives involved in our work. Since the 1990s safety performance has steadily improved but recently performance has plateaued.

2 years ago Severn Trent Water and its tier 1 contractors (NMCnomenca, MWH Treatment, Costain and MMB) embarked on a radically different approach to improving safety through; working more collaboratively with construction site managers, improving leadership capability and using behavioural safety psychology. The journey never ends but today we have 70% fewer accidents than before.

If you want to learn how to really improve safety beyond compliance come along and we'll share what we've been doing. It's transferable to your business but if you are about to start out in your career or are still studying, this presentation will help equip you for dealing with the most important thing you will be involved with in your working life.

Mark Lee (NMCnomenca), John Bentley (Severn Trent Water)

John and Mark have over 50yrs combined experience of delivery construction projects in the water sector. They have worked together on a huge number of high profile projects valued between £1M - £200M, in complex challenging construction environments with short delivery timescales.

They care passionately about protecting construction operatives and ensuring they go home every day safe and well. They hope you can join them to hear their story of reducing accidents by over 70%.
