ICE and InterEngineering, the LGBT Engineering diversity group, with support from the IChemE and IMechE, hosted an event on November 16 at One Great George Street. Among the issues raised by the audience were the NCE report on the largely negative experiences of LGBT engineers in construction, support groups for minorities, the business case for diversity and ensuring fair access to the profession when looking at recruitment procedures. As well as company wide policies, the importance of bottom-up initiatives and organisational culture were discussed.
