The Committee on Climate Change has highlighted the vital role of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies for achieving the UK’s 2050 net-zero emissions target. It estimates that in 2050 somewhere between 75 to 175 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) will need to be removed from the atmosphere by CCS annually.

But is CCS in the UK ready to make a significant contribution to the 2050 net-zero target?

Join this webinar to hear ICE’s latest insights, presented by Professor Paul Jowitt, a Past President of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a leading expert on sustainable technologies.

Learn about:

  • What CCS is and its history in the UK
  • The potential role for CCS in a net-zero emissions context
  • Lessons from development schemes internationally
  • Public sentiment around climate change mitigation
  • Alternative approaches and technical solutions
