About this event

This is the first in a series of three lectures on Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Eddie Simpson, lecturer in the Division of Natural and Built Environment at the University of Abertay, will give an introduction in the process of building information modelling, where demystifying some of the terms and languages used in BIM will be discussed, as well as identifying the key issues that lie within the BIM process.

The second lecture will take place on 16 March at University of Abertay and the third, and final lecture, will be held on 23 March at University of Dundee.


Eddie Simpson

Eddie Simpson's industry experience includes working for five years for Hillsdown Holdings before starting his lecturing career.

He continues to maintain his links with the military through Tayforth UOTC Military Education Committee.

Eddie is a CIOB Ambassador and past Chair and member of the Dundee Centre CIOB committee. He has delivered on Professional Body Review courses for the Dundee Centre in previous years and also supports ICE members in the Dundee area prepare for professional review contributing to their CPD series of workshops.

Links with industry include acting in a consultancy capacity and Internal Verifier to an educational training company, RT Resources in Ayr, on construction education and training provision for SVQ awards at levels 3, 4 and 5.

Since entering Higher Education as a lecturer, Eddie has achieved a considerable number of appointments recognising his contribution to the field including, for example, the Higher Education representative (Scotland) covering the built environment subjects for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

Eddie has extensive academic knowledge of Building Information Modelling and recognised how to aid in the development of knowledge and understanding in this area.
