Chris Furneaux
Chris is an Associate Director at Arup and a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 18 years’ experience in highway projects. He has holistic experience in the life-cycle of highway schemes and has led projects through public consultation processes, as well asacted as an expert witness at Public Inquiries. He is the Arup UK, India, Middle East and Africa Highways Skills Leader and Global Highways Skills Network Manager. He is also the English-Speaking Secretary, representing the UK Government, for the PIARC Taskforce on Well Prepared Projects.
Chris has a clear vision of how the sector needs to evolve to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead. He is responsible for coordinating and focusing Arup’s investments in terms of research, knowledge sharing and training around highway engineering. Recent investments and initiatives include; IRAP Star Rating for Design, Data Driven Design Safety, LEAN Design Manual Development, UK Smart Intersections and Virtual Exhibitions.
