The talk is aimed at providing young and aspiring engineers with an overview of the NEC4 Family of Contracts and is designed to help them navigate and select the most appropriate primary and secondary options for each project. It will offer practical advice and guidance to help understand the philosophy behind the NEC4, identify the more important clauses of the contracts, understand the roles and responsibilities of the key parties and help to appreciate how the successful application of the NEC4 can positively contribute to the effective management of a project.

Iain Hayes has over 30 years’ experience working in Local Government on a wide variety of engineering projects from major trunk road schemes to minor improvement works. In his current role as Project Manager for the Consultancy team within Conwy County Borough Council, he is responsible for overseeing the delivery of in-house and NMWTRA led highway improvement, land drainage, coastal defence and active travel schemes.
