Lantau, the largest island of Hong Kong with various country parks, is one of the new town areas under the development of Hong Kong. With the unique geographic location and the completion of Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge (HZMB) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), Lantau will become the essential gateway to the world and the Greater Pearl River Delta. Therefore, proper development strategy for Lantau is vital to maintain the natural and cultural assets for conversation together with the social and economic development.
Jointly organised with ASCE, AES-YES, ASHRAE-YMC, IET-YMS and HKIPE, the joint society seminar: Lantau tomorrow - sustainable provides a valuable opportunity for all of you to learn about the Sustainable Lantau Blueprint, a combination of infrastructure, sustainable technology, smart city and ideal living.
It is our honoured to have Mr Wong Chi Sing, Janson, JP, Deputy Head of the Sustainable Lantau Office (Works) of Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD), to present to us the benefits and challenges on the proposed development for Lantau. The Lantau development consists of two parts: North Lantau and South Lantau. Opportunities and quality living are the visions of North Lantau development while the South Lantau aims at nature conservation, leisure and recreation elements. This seminar will address the philosophy of the Sustainable Lantau Blueprint and the details of the proposed Lantau development.
