31 March, 2016 | 18:00 - 19:30

The redevelopment of London Bridge station in central London.
The redevelopment of London Bridge station in central London.

About this event

London Bridge Station was originally constructed between 1836 and 1893. As part of the UK government funded Thameslink Programme, the London Bridge Station Redevelopment aims to increase train capacity running through central London and rejuvenate the station.

To achieve these goals a considerable area of masonry arches is being demolished forming a large modern pedestrian concourse area at ground level, with tracks and platforms supported by prefabricated steel bridges and multiple piled pier bases.

Mike Haliburton from Arcadis, a project principal geotechnical engineer, will present the project, its geological conditions, the geotechnical design and the construction support provided by the geotechnical design team.
