About this event

Below our cities there are streams, rivers and springs that can no longer be seen. Although hidden from view these watercourses still have a legacy.

Adam Broadhead will discuss his research into locating urban streams and the benefits of “daylighting” urban watercourses. With the potential to benefit, flood management, ecology, wastewater treatment and urban regeneration. He will present a UK case study where approximately half the total stream length and over 100 natural springs have been apparently lost and could be flowing into the combined sewers.

This meeting is being run in conjunction with the Manchester library archive and a selection of items relating to Manchester’s underground watercourses will be available to view before the presentation.
