The Lower Thames Crossing will link the A2 in Kent with the A13 and M25 in Essex, crossing the Thames Estuary with twin bored tunnels. It will offer new connections and better journeys, and unlock opportunities and economic growth for the region and the country as a whole. These will be the third largest diameter tunnels ever constructed.
Refreshments will be available from 6.00pm and the talk will commence promptly at 6.30pm. The ARA club is situated at the end of Manton Lane (map and directions on flyer below). The car park is on the left and in front of the security gate. Additional free parking is available in Manton Lane. Please park legally as enforcement vans operate.
This is a joint event with Bedford Civil Engineering Society.
For more information please contact BCES meetings Secretary, Roger Chantrelle
The talk will be presented by Andrew Kidd, Project Manager for the Lower Thames Crossing. He joined Highways England in 2017 to be part of the team delivering the largest investment in road infrastructure in a generation. He has a background in project and programme management of major transport infrastructure projects. He will introduce the scheme and discuss some of the challenges and opportunities in developing the project.
