Recent advances in Virtual and Augmented reality hardware, together with the increased graphical power of standard computers have made using this technology an option in many areas. Building Information Modelling standards and the increasingly detailed 3D models used by architects and civil engineers make this an area where mixed realty has a lot of potential.
This talk will outline the underlining principles of Virtual Environments, give a brief history of the development of Virtual Reality, and outline the potential for its use in the future. It will also describe the hardware and software available to developers and outline the skills required to make the most of this emerging technology.
