Louise Hardy BSc CEng FICE CMgr CCMI FWES HonFAPM was inspired by a WISE campaign in the late 1980s to go into the civil engineering profession. Having gained her degree at the University of Warwick she embarked upon a career primarily in major civil engineering projects.
Her journey took her from London to Transylvannia, on high speed rail projects via the Olympics through several life changing experiences and into the world of FTSE listed boardrooms. This is the story of her career adventure over 30years from site engineer to the boardroom. Join us and celebrate International Women in Engineering Day.
Louise is a civil engineer and was included in the inaugural listing of the Top 50 Influential Women in Engineering in 2016.
Louise's most notable role was as Infrastructure Director for the Delivery Partner to the Olympic Delivery Authority for the design and construction of the London 2012 Olympic Park. In her Olympics role Louise was the most senior woman civil engineer and managed the successful delivery of all the civil engineering works worth a total of £2billion.
Louise now undertakes a portfolio of non executive director positions, using her experience to provide strategic input and advice to businesses and clients on managing projects effectively. All the areas in which she is engaged have significant societal benefit; creating homes, jobs, contributing to feeding our growing population, enhancing GDP, national protection and caring for servicemen and women and their families. Specifically she is a board member of the newly formed Ebbsfleet Development Corporation that is creating a new garden city and much needed new homes. She is also a non executive board director appointed to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation that drives for efficiency in the delivery and management of Ministry of Defence infrastructure assets for the benefit of servicemen and their families and in the interests of national protection.
Most recently Louise has been appointed a non executive board member of Sirius Minerals Plc which aims to mine the world's largest and highest grade Polyhalite deposit located in Yorkshire.
