NEC is a great product of the ICE.
In the 12 years since NEC3 was launched the family of contracts has been used more and more extensively in the UK and South Africa. It's now also mandated for government construction spend in Hong Kong and use is picking up in New Zealand. NEC4, launched in June 2017, is described by NEC as 'evolution rather than revolution'.
The changes are a mix of minor corrections and genuine developments to make it even more flexible and even better to use. New contracts, new options in existing contracts, and new and modified provisions.
Richard Patterson, NEC and Procurement Specialist at Mott MacDonald has been using and training on NEC for more than 20 of his 28 years with the consultants. He gives NEC training to Mott MacDonald staff, to its clients and for NEC Training itself. He was a small part of the drafting team for NEC4 and gave NEC's first webinar on the changes in ECC4.
This session will focus on and explain the key changes in the Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) – and also the Professional Services Contract (PSC).
