Talking Climate: How to Communicate Climate Impacts and Flood Risk
Speaker: Jenny Cooke CEng MICE, Senior Asset Engineer (Geotechnics) at Network Rail
From higher wind speeds to flooding, climate change is already affecting every part of our infrastructure. Engineers need to be able to articulate how climate risks will affect clients, funders and the public, but it can be hard to get the message across. That means we need to learn to communicate differently, so that we can have informed public debate to find solutions.
This talk will summarise recent research published by Climate Outreach (http://climateoutreach.org) and apply it to the problem of how engineers can most effectively communicate climate impacts on infrastructure to the public.
