About this event

With the rapid expansion of the Internet, and its underpinning of the world economy, this presentation will seek to introduce the complexity of the challenge faced by nation states today.

The borderless nature of the Internet and its decentralised governance has transformed the landscape for criminal activity. Acknowledging the transformative nature for economic growth, innovation and prosperity for all, Cybersecurity has been declared a top one priority by leading nations across the world. This prioritisation will continue to grow as we move into an ever increasingly connected world.

This is a free event open to the general public. - Being the last presentation before Christmas, we would like to welcome you to stay for a small reception after the presentation.

Lara Pace

Ms Lara Pace graduated from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 2006 in Documentary Photography. She has worked in the creative and educational industries in Europe, Africa and Asia.

In 2010 Lara began working for the Commonwealth in various capacities, working on ICT4D, Internet Governance and Cybercrime and Cybersecurity capacity building. She contributed to the establishment and development of the Commonwealth Cybercrime Initiative – a programme designed to assist member countries to build capacity to combat cybercrime through a comprehensive, holistic and sustainable approach premised on the collaboration of over 30 international organisations.

Lara is the lead on Strategy and External Relations at the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre at the Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford.
