About this event

Increasing demand has resulted in the design and construction of many new structures in recent years, however this has had to be tempered by the unexpectedly early deterioration of certain of those structures.

This has become a major concern in many countries despite the use of established design and construction practices, with significant expenditure having to be diverted from capital works to the maintenance of those structures. Long-term performance in service is clearly of great importance socially, environmentally and economically. Structures are ageing and deteriorating and there are often significant constraints on the funding available for their rehabilitation or replacement.

The seminar includes presentations relating to the design, construction and maintenance of structures; the benefits of innovation; improving the inspection and condition monitoring of structures; and the improvement in performance of structures through research and collaboration.
