Maritime engineering in Scotland and FloWave tour, Edinburgh

About this event

The FloWave Ocean Energy Research facility at the University of Edinburgh is a cutting-edge tool for the model testing of both existing and proposed structures subject to waves and currents concurrently, under a wide variety of angles of approach.

Participants on the tour will be given the background theory to the facility and see it in operation. The tour will be conducted by Dr Tom Davy, a senior researcher at the university.

The number of participants is strictly limited. Because of commercial issues associated with the current use of the facility, participation of each individual in the tour of FloWave will be subject to confirmation.

Evening Seminar
The evening seminar at the University of Edinburgh will comprise four lectures covering current maritime issues including the mooring of large ships, the maintenance of Ro-Ro berths and construction practice in a marine environment.

This is a joint meeting between PIANC and ICE.

Please note there are separate booking sessions for the FloWave Tour and evening Seminar. You can select to attend both or just one session. You can confirm which session you’d like to attend as your proceed through the booking process.

Please note if you wish to attend both PIANC events (29 April and 1 May) you have to arrange your travel between Edinburgh and Aberdeen separately. PIANC will not arrange travel between Edinburgh and Aberdeen however, will provide travel in Aberdeen.

Further information including joining instructions will be sent ahead of the event.
