Building services such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning require major consideration as they all need huge amounts of energy to run efficiently and make buildings a comfortable place to live and work. Add also the continual outside pressures to reduce carbon emissions in the UK, and it's clear to see why a new innovative approach is needed. Learning lessons from past cultures and nature and turning them into inspiring new design ideas are being considered.

We are delighted to welcome Derek Clements-Croome from Reading University.

He will explain how a combination of new technology, organic architecture and history can help to create sustainable intelligent buildings for society and future generations.
