Network Rail is undertaking its biggest upgrade of the Midland Mainline.

About this event

Network Rail has undertaken to deliver the biggest investment in the Midland Main Line since Victorian times over the next eight years. This is a huge undertaking but one which will deliver a step change in the operation of the railway, offering more seats, faster journey times, whilst delivering real benefits for the environment.

Network Rail has committed to reduce carbon emissions, generate less waste, and leave a net positive outcome for biodiversity. All this will be delivered whilst maintaining the day-to-day operation of the railway, which carries tens of millions of passengers every year, and which is seeing significant passenger growth year-on-year.

This is a joint meeting with IStructE
