New Engineering Contract – an introduction and overview, Winchester

About this event

The New Engineering Contract (NEC) was first published as a new and innovative way of managing construction contracts in 1993. It was designed to facilitate and encourage management of risks and uncertainties using clear and simple language. Since then the NEC suite of contracts have evolved by embedding consultation and user feedback to reflect industry development and innovative procurement.

The key objectives of the NEC contracts are to:

  • Provide a stimulus to good management
  • Support new approaches to procurement and supplier engagement
  • Apportion risks to each party clearly

The training event will cover a range of topics including:

  • NEC Objectives – Main and Secondary Options
  • Contract Structure – Data, Site Information, Works Information
  • Managing performance with time and programming
  • Management of early warnings, risk reduction and compensation events
  • Timescales and programming
