The project is the creation of a strategic transport hub on the rail network positioned between Liverpool and Manchester that will provide local transport links (buses and park and ride) with these and other key cities on the national rail network following the completion of the electrification of the route.
The scheme sees the provision of a bus interchange, significant increase in parking spaces and the remodelling of the station facilities including step-free (lifts) access, new ticket office and provision of a new subway. The construction of the subway has been undertaken using an innovative construction method that has allowed services to continue to run between Liverpool and Manchester throughout the duration of construction.
Complimentary refreshments will be served from 18:00, with the presentation starting at 18:30.
Organised by ICE Merseyside and NW Geotechnical Group.
