NorthLink WA has a long term vision to cater for the traffic volumes associated with a future Perth population of 3.5 million. The Federal and State Governments have invested $1.02 billion in NorthLink WA.
The new road will complement Gateway WA, servicing regional traffic movements to the State's west and to commercial and industrial areas such as Malaga, Kewdale and Perth Airport. The construction of roads to freeway standards including 9 new interchanges and 8 other grade separations will provide a non-stop transport route between Morley and Muchea, improving traffic flow and safety and reducing travel times and congestion.
Rob is currently a Senior Project Director within the Infrastructure Delivery Directorate of Main Roads Western Australia, responsible for developing and delivering NorthLink WA. Rob graduated from the University of Western Australia with first class honours in Civil Engineering in 1985 and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the same university (1989).
Rob has over 35 years of experience working with Main Roads Western Australia in a wide variety of roles in both urban and rural environments. His experience spans project management, asset management, planning, design and construction of roads. He was also part of teams responsible for the planning, design and construction of both the Northern Suburbs Transit System and the Southern Suburbs Railway that carry the bulk of the metropolitan rail passenger movements in Perth.
From 2008 Rob initiated and led Main Roads' planning and development work on the Gateway WA project that has transformed access to Perth Airport and the freight hub at Kewdale. NorthLink WA currently consumes the majority of Rob's work time.
When not at work Rob enjoys spending time on the water, either in a kayak or sailing.
