About this event

Peter Schuyler Bruff appears to be a little known pioneer of East Anglian Railways. Although he was involved with the Eastern Counties Railway to Colchester, his big chance came when they refused to continue the railway to Ipswich. Along with Ipswich businessmen he promoted and supervised the Eastern Union Railway to Ipswich, following on with the extension to Bury St Edmunds, including the Ipswich Stoke tunnel.

Peter's other railways included the Hadleigh Railway, Haughley to Norwich, Stour valley railway (inc Chappel Viaduct), Manningtree to Harwich, Ipswich to Woodbridge, Waveney Valley Railway (Tivetshall-Beccles), Tendring Hundred Railway (to Walton & eventually Clacton).
