About this event

What is the most creative way to explain civil engineering?

Pitch180, the engineering competition with a difference, brings together civil engineers to answer that exciting question.

Nine civil engineers from across the industry will come together to explain their chosen project or concept using in the wackiest and weirdest way possible – using all sorts of props and methods. And they will only have 180 seconds to do it!

Our contestants, in alphabetical order are:

  • Dr Ian Chandler, Coastal Structures Engineer, HR Wallingford
  • Akshaya Chapagain, Graduate Civil Engineer, Balfour Beatty
  • Roxanne D'Aguiar, Scheme Project Manager, Network Rail
  • ‎Jonathan Knight, Graduate Civil Engineer - Thames Tideway, Balfour Beatty
  • Vinay Lalsodagar, Structural Engineer, AECOM
  • Simone Schmeider, Graduate Engineer, Wood Thilsted Partners Ltd
  • Alastair Shipman, PhD Student, Imperial
  • Kishen Sreenivasan, University of Bath
  • Bernard Travers, Associate, Hawkins

They will then be judged by our high profile panel of judges, including:

  • Antony Oliver, Former Editor of Infrastructure Intelligence and Editorial Consultant (TBC)
  • David Jones, Toastmasters Ireland and UK (5 Times) Champion
  • Wendy Blundell, Director of UK Regions at ICE
  • Aaron Matthew, ICE President's Apprentice for 2015/6 and creator of Pitch180

The winner will be declared ICE London's Public Ambassador, the face of ICE London's public engagement programme. He or she will have the opportunity to speak at public events and to engage a new audience to the world of civil engineering.

Come along and see civil engineering explained like you've never seen it before!
