Poole Bridge approach spans.

About this event

Poole Bridge, constructed in 1927 is the third structure on the site and provides a vital link from Poole to Hamworthy and the Port of Poole. The condition of the approach spans was such that they had reached the end of their serviceable life.

The works were planned to ensure Poole continues to benefit from the two-bridge system, take the opportunity to improve the provision for pedestrians &cyclists, and improve the overall appearance of the structure which had unavoidably undergone a number of strengthening and maintenance schemes where the primary consideration was minimising disruption while it was the only route across the Backwater Channel.
