Join ICE President, Rachel Skinner, at the launch of her virtual visit to the West Midlands where she will outline the Net Zero Carbon challenges we face and how civil engineers in the region can help shape the future.

With almost 5,000 ICE members in the region, this is an opportunity to meet with your ICE President as she poses the question ‘Shaping Net Zero in the West Midlands, what are you going to do?’

Delegates will also have an opportunity to engage directly with the ICE President and a selection of her Future Leaders.

The event will be chaired by Gbenga Oludotun, ICE West Midlands Regional Chair.

Everyone is welcome and the online session is free to attend.

Rachel Skinner BSc MSc(Eng) FREng CEng FICE CTPP FCIHT

Rachel Skinner

Rachel Skinner is Executive Director (Transport) at WSP. She was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2019 and is a Chartered Engineer, Trustee and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Highways & Transportation and a Chartered Transport Planner. In 2016, Rachel was named as one of The Telegraph’s inaugural Top 50 Influential Women in Engineering and in 2017 she was named as “Most Distinguished Winner” and “Best Woman in Civil Engineering” at the European Women in Construction and Engineering Awards.

In late 2018, she was appointed by the Scottish Government as an Infrastructure Commissioner for Scotland and is a Patron of Women in Transport, a not-for-profit networking organisation working to improve gender equality, having been one of its founding board members in 2005.

Gbenga Oludotun, ICE West Midlands Regional Chair

Gbenga Oludotun

Gbenga, a Chartered Civil Engineer, is currently an Associate with the Birmingham Bridges team at global consultants WSP. He began his career with Amey upon graduation from the University of Sheffield where he was involved in several assessment and design of highway structure schemes for Highways England and Birmingham City Council. At WSP, Gbenga has been responsible for the design delivery on HS2 Enabling Works North contract, Great Western Electrification Project, East West Rail Phase 2 and Highways England SPaTS framework. Gbenga has been an active member of the ICE since 2009 when he joined the Graduates and Students committee, eventually becoming Chair in 2013.

He is Regional Chair of the ICE West Midlands Regional Committee. He is also past Chair of regional Inspiration and Education Committee group and sharing his passion, as a STEM ambassador, for civil engineering with the next generation through school presentations and science fair activities.
