The Wyre and Fylde Coast has been subject to major coast protection investment over the past decade. This has focused on constructing new coast protection structures (Rossall and Anchorsholme) as well as refurbishing existing ones (Morecambe wave reflection wall). The next step in better protecting this vulnerable coastline is the £17.5m Fairhaven to Church Scar coast defence, protecting approximately 2,500 properties from erosion and sea flooding and upgrading the promenades.
The project consists of two phases. Phase 1 will start early January 2018 at Church Scar, and phase 2 will follow at Fairhaven, with work completing in 2020.
The main contractor is VBA, a joint venture between VolkerStevin, Boskalis Westminster and Atkins, who has been appointed on behalf of Fylde Borough Council to undertake the works on behalf of the Environment Agency.
This event will incorporate three talks detailing:
Speakers: Andy Shore and Mike Pomfret
Refreshments will be served from 18:00 for a meeting start of 18:30.
