Dan Pope will describe the way in which Dstl (MOD) are developing advanced physics modelling techniques to accurately predict the response of military and civilian platforms against attack from blast and ballistic threats.
These analyses are used to support Government to ensure the effectiveness of the UK's armed forces abroad and the safety of citizens at home. It is a cutting-edge capability which has led to increased mechanistic understanding and more advanced protection and mitigation designs. It has also enabled more rapid response to urgent operational requirements and produced significant cost savings due a reduction in requisite full-scale testing.
