Construction of underground facilities in congested urban area becomes one of the major challenges in city development. Also, the complexity of the underground geological condition is another challenge that engineers need to overcome.
The Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd (STEC) is one of the pioneers in trenchless Rectangular Tunnel Boring Machine (RTBM) tunnelling in mainland China.
The RTBM technology is first introduced in the construction of pedestrian subway between Kai Tak Development and the Choi Hung area in Hong Kong. The merits of this innovation include enhancing work safety, reducing construction risks, and promoting construction quality.
The Business Development Director of the HK/Macau regional office of STEC and the Executive Director of Shanghai Tunnel (HK) Co., Ltd, Mr Chiang Kai Ming, will introduce the TBM methods, RTBM technology, development of STEC RTBM and its application in major infrastructural projects by sharing his experience in recent projects.
