Regulating new nuclear build in the UK – update on regulators’ activities, Peterborough

About this event

The Government's energy policy identifies an important role for new nuclear power stations. The nuclear regulators, the Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Environment Agency, are responsible for ensuring that any new nuclear power stations built in the UK would meet high standards of safety, security, waste management and environmental protection.

This talk will cover:

  • How the Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Environment Agency are working together to assess new nuclear power station designs;
  • What their findings are so far;
  • How the lessons learned at Fukushima are being taken account; and
  • What specific proposals are coming forward.
