Rhubarb Footbridge- Past, Present & Future, Peterborough

About this event

The recent scheme to knock down Rhubarb bridge and replace it with a series of crossings has now been put on hold after a change of mind by Peterborough City Councillors. This followed a petition to 'save Rhubarb Bridge' was signed by nearly 5000 local residents.

The talk will cover the origins of the footbridge, the recent repair work that has been undertaken over the last 15 years and the possible future for the bridge.

The speaker Brian Keegan began his career in the Water Industry in 1965, initially with the Greater London Council and then with Anglian Water, becoming Chartered in 1975 and progressing to the role Engineering Manager of the Lincoln Design Office. Between 1999 and 2003 he was Assistant Head of Transport and Engineering for Peterborough City Council in charge of street lighting, drainage and bridges, hence his abiding interest in bridges.

This in a joint event with IStructE.
