This project comprises the upgrading of the sewage treatment level from preliminary treatment to chemically enhanced primary treatment with disinfection; expansion of the treatment capacity to 200,000 cubic metre per day; construction of ancillary works including an administration building, a maintenance workshop, access roads and landscaping works.
Upgrading the treatment level of San Wai sewage treatment works will help to reduce pollution loads to the North-western Waters; and expansion of the treatment capacity will be able to cater for additional flows due to population growth in Northwestern New Territories.
The project focus on sustainable development, target to obtain BEAM Plus Platinum Rating. With the efforts put into the project on improving environmental performance, the project has been awarded the Outstanding Environmental Management & Performance Award under the 24th Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme.
ICE HKA is organizing a site visit to the project. Participants will learn more about environmental project.

Technical Report Prize
The event is designated by the HKA committee and is eligible for the Technical Report Prize. ICE HKA awards prizes to young ICE members who reside in Hong Kong and prepare reports of a high standard on the caption technical event. Winners will be given a prize of HK$500.
