About this event

Aecom will present the results from the latest ground investigation at the site, reasons for the long term slope instability problems and possible geotechnical solutions.

The site comprises a natural hillside with a long history of slope instability. The instability has affected the railway and road at the site since they were constructed. In 2015 an extensive ground investigation was undertaken by Durham County Council and subsequent instrumentation monitoring by Network Rail to determine the reasons for the ongoing slope movements.

This presentation will focus on the results of the extensive site investigation and subsequent monitoring at the site. The presentation will discuss the ground modelling undertaken for the site and the implications on any potential remedial works. Remedial options that are under consideration will be briefly discussed.
