We often hear "smart" or "digital" related to new infrastructure – but how can this relate to the future of transportation infrastructure in Indonesia?
Indonesia is at a turning point and has the ability to capitalise on innovative approaches to urban mobility. What will smart mobility mean to Jakarta and second and third-tier cities across Indonesia? How can it positively impact quality of life? How do we foresee the future of transport? What will be the impacts of digital engineering?
For a discussion of these topics and related issues, please join this presentation where Gareth Jones will speak about his personal vision and thought leadership work related to "Future of Rail 2050" and his experience on high speed rail, metro and light rail across the globe.
Gareth Jones is a Chartered Engineer and Arup's Infrastructure and Urban Mobility Leader for Indonesia, he also leads Arup's global light rail transit business. He brings international experience on transformative transportation projects, such as the Sydney and Canberra Light Rail, Ottawa Bus Rapid Transport to Light Rail conversion project, Sydney MRT, Channel Tunnel Rail Link (HS1) and Taiwan High Speed Rail projects to clients and partners. In Indonesia, Gareth led Arup's work on the High Speed Rail and Light Rapid Rail technical peer reviews.
He has undertaken project based roles in design, procurement, construction and project delivery for major contractors, engineering consultancies and as client. His background in rail new start projects and extensions along with his understanding and passion around integrated and seamless transport design provides deep insights when addressing transport development initiatives.
