Smart Motorways – Why the North West will love them, Preston

About this event

Smart motorways have been delivered for over 20 years, but their design has evolved over time into the current preferred option of permanent conversion of the hard shoulder. The first scheme in the north-west opened in 2017, another is in construction and six others are being designed with construction planned to commence by 2021. What is the latest thinking on design and technology and what does this mean for the north-west?

Speaker: Dino Visco MSc CEng MCIHT, Divisional Director in Transport Technology at Jacobs

The lecture will be delivered by Dino Visco MSc CEng MCIHT, who is a Divisional Director in Transport Technology at Jacobs. Dino has been involved in the design of smart motorway schemes since the M42 ATM Pilot and has been involved in a number of schemes in the north-west.

Refreshments will be served from 18:00 for a meeting start of 18:30.
