About this event

Please join us for the South East regional AGM and South Branch AGM. We will hear from both the regional and local south branch Chair’s on the past year and plans for the coming year. We will also be voting for your new South Branch committee for 2021/22.

Following the AGM, we are hoisting an interactive panel discussion with members of the South Branch committee. We hope you’ll join us for an online to hear about what your South branch committee are passionate about and their vision for the upcoming year. It’s an excellent opportunity to get to know your local branch committee and share your ideas and aspirations for our industry.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and share your views. Please email [email protected] in advance of the event if you have specific topics or questions.


Emily Duncombe - Chair

Emily is the current Chair of the South Branch and past Chair of the Women in Property Solent branch. In her day job, Emily leads multi-disciplinary design teams delivering buildings projects for Clients across a range of sectors, including Healthcare, Higher Education and the Science, Industry and Technology sectors.

Emily is passionate about driving excellence in engineering design and supporting young professionals to achieve their potential.

Nick Gray – Vice Chair

Nick Gray is Operations Manager for Mildren Construction Ltd, a regional civil engineering and building contractor working across the South of England. After graduating from the University of Southampton, Nick is now a Chartered Civil Engineer. He is an active member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has held various roles on committees, including South Branch Chair and South East England Regional Chair during ICE200.

With over 20 years’ experience in civil engineering, being part of the tangible, physical construction of civil engineering has always been a motivation to him. Having worked for regional and national clients the variety of projects has been particularly enjoyable.

Marc Griffin – Transport special interest group lead & South East Region Vice Chair

Marc is a Technical Director at WSP.

Marc is a Fellow of the ICE and past chair of the South Branch and South East Region Vice Chair.

Stuart Field – Chair of Graduate, Student and Apprentices group

Stuart is a consulting structural engineer at Scott White and Hookins LLP with experience across the education, healthcare, residential and industrial sectors. His projects include a range of the four main building materials. Stuart is currently serving as the ICE South Branch graduate student and apprentice Chairperson and is looking forward to becoming more involved in the ICE south committee.

Andrew Abbott – Technician committee member

Andy is a Senior Structural Revit Technician at Arup and is passionate about Structural Engineering, Design, BIM & Modelling. He is a passionate advocate for technician members of the ICE particularly with the current industry transition towards Digitization, Collaboration and Automation. Andy is the ICE South Branch Committee member for Technician engagement.

Sameer Mannick - Secretary

Sameer is a consulting structural engineer with 13 years of professional experience within the UK buildings sector, currently Senior Associate at Scott White and Hookins. He is a STEM Ambassador and has been part of ICE's regional committees for over a decade. He is currently a Delegated Engineer for the ICE, with aspirations to become a Professional Reviewer soon.

Nathanael Pickett – Communications

Nathanael is an active member of the Institute of Civil Engineer who is responsible for the South Branch communication and engagement with members and public utilising social media platforms. Founder and host of the ICE South Branch Podcast he discusses the latest projects, methods and ideas in Civil Engineering. 

Nathanael works for Galliford Try as a site engineer on AMP7 for Southern Water. Currently holding a Graduate membership he is working towards his chartership into the ICE. Alongside his day job Nathanael is a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserves where he is a Troop Commander at 457 Battery 106 Regiment Royal Artillery in Southampton.

Nathanael is always looking for new, novel and intelligent ways in which to improve how the Branch communicates and delivers to its membership. He strongly believes that South Branch is here to serve its members and actively encourages participation as well as feedback.
