Emerging engineers award 2019 – South Branch GSA final, Winchester

About this event

The Emerging Engineers Award promotes and rewards outstanding communication of civil engineering ideas and research. Earlier this year, ICE Graduate, Student & Apprentice members across the South Branch area were invited to submit a paper on any civil engineering related topic in the format of research, a report or an essay. Having received the entries, the judges have selected the following competitors to further develop their essay and present their papers at the South Branch regional finals:

  • Manuel Garcia – Ramboll
    “Flood Routing Calculation Software”
  • Nerea Palacios - AECOM
“An analysis of flood risk and potential adaptations in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight”
  • Hasib Abdulrazaq - Ramboll
“Seismic Soil-pile Structure Interaction Analysis of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Bridge”

The Dr Mike Cooper Memorial Award will be presented to the winning entrant, together with £150 prize money and a further £75 and £25 will be awarded for second and third places respectively. The prize fund has been generously donated on Mike’s behalf by his family, friends and colleagues.

The regional winner will be shortlisted for the 2019 Emerging Engineers Global Final, where the prestigious Institution Medal and further cash prizes can be won. Your attendance and support for the entrants would be gratefully appreciated.

The venue is located next to Winchester Railway Station and parking charges end at 18.00 for Gladstone Street car park (approximately £1.50 for 1 hour).
