Southern Water’s demand management challenges in the 2020s and beyond

About this event

The South of England is facing unprecedented challenges in ensuring resilient water supplies. Population growth, climate change and the need to protect and enhance our precious natural resources are driving the need for new and innovative approaches to sourcing and conserving water.

Southern Water is at the forefront of the water industry in rising to this challenge. This presentation will detail Southern Water’s triple track approach to providing resilient water supplies. It will highlight how Southern Water is using technology to manage demand for water, developing new innovative water sources, and utilising catchment management approaches to maintain and enhance the natural environment.

Helen Simonian studied Biological Sciences and has a Masters in Ecotoxicology and Pollution Monitoring. She joined Southern Water in 2001 in the Wastewater Process Scientist team and has subsequently worked in senior management roles in Operations and Asset Management, leading the Asset Planning, Water Distribution, Control and Market Reform teams.
