Special visit to Dover Western Dock revival, Dover

About this event

The Port of Dover and VSBW, a joint venture between Volker Stevin and Boskalis Westminster, kindly invite all CEDA UK members for a site visit to the Port's flagship Dover Western Docks Revival (DWDR) development.

The £250 million DWDR development is the single biggest investment ever undertaken by the Port and represents the next exciting evolution of the Port, delivering long-term capacity for a key international gateway handling trade to the value of £122bn representing up to 17% of UK trade in goods.

The revival of the western part of the Port estate supports the developing destination agenda for Dover, being identified as the key catalyst for the wider regeneration of area. It will deliver valuable employment opportunities both during construction and on completion of the new cargo facility.

With a contract value of £115m, VSBW are currently delivering the marine structures and bridge contract. This construction stage includes the design and build of two new berths including quay walls and land reclamation, a new marina pier, the marina curve, navigation channel and new lock gates, Bascule Bridge and capital dredging work.

Approximately one million cubic metres of silt, gravel and chalk will be removed from the harbour and will require two million cubic metres of sand for use as infill material for land reclamation.

Buffet food and refreshments will be included.

Numbers of attendees are limited so advanced booking is highly recommended.
