STEM build project Malawi, Gloucester

About this event

We look forward to welcoming you to our Cheltenham & Gloucester City Club meeting. The Council Chamber is accessed from the rear of the main Shire Hall building, off the Councillors Car Park in Bearland. Go up the steps to the double doors. These will be open from 18.00.

£17,500 was raised to cover the build cost; and a further £3,000 crowdfunding campaign enabled the classroom to be furnished and equipped. Each team member was passionate about the promotion of STEM and helped develop, deliver and launch the activities, which included interactive lessons and workshops, with the students, teachers and other community members.

Uniting a range of engineering disciplines and other expertise, the world-wide team collaborated on a sustainable design for the classroom block, as well as working closely with Malawian construction contractors, the local workforce and the wider community, to share expertise and assist with the final stages of construction.

There will be an opportunity to learn more about being a STEM Ambassador on behalf of the ICE locally; or the possibility of becoming involved in further STEM Build projects.
