Search and Rescue Assistance in Disasters (SARAID) is a British charity dedicated to trying to save the lives of innocent victims of disasters, as well as relieving human suffering around the world. They specialise in Urban Search & Rescue and have a team of dedicated, highly trained volunteers on standby 24/7, every single day of the year. Funded only by donations they have deployed to Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia, Mexico and more recently the Caribbean in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
The Civil Engineers' Club is organising a Sponsored Guided Walk for SARAID starting at 10am from Café Nero, Oxford Circus and finishing at The Institution of Civil Engineers around 1pm.
The walk will pass several places of interest including Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, St James' Park, The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, The Institution of Civil Engineers (with a visit inside). The Walk will be guided by an Atkins Ltd., Design Director, Peter Heath, a public realm improvement architect and town planner specialist, for 30 years in the public and private sectors, responsible with Atkins and others in partnerships, for many of the improvements along the route.
To take part, register using the 'book' buttons and we suggest a minimum of £20 via the donation page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/walkforsaraid.
