CROSS collects confidential data on the concerns of structural and civil engineers and others on structural safety and provides commentary and advice. The talk will describe how the system operates and how it influences behaviour and performance. There will be numerous examples of failures and near misses and the lessons that can be learned. Also discussed will be the recommendations from the Hackitt Review, following the Grenfell Tower Fire, for the expansion of CROSS into new areas including fire safety. The impact on the construction industry and likely outcomes will be described and discussion will be welcomed.
