Super tall buildings - an overall perspective, Bangalore

About this event

Over the last decade, the growth of tall and super-tall buildings construction has certainly changed the skyline of the world. Sometimes, these developments have breached into the thinking of creating vertical cities. Has the trend begin to change on how we design them? Is it just a race to reach the height, or are designers begin to understand the purpose of building them.

The talk looks summarising a combination of external and internal factors collating different drivers for designing them recognising their individual challenges and how to put them together to achieve it.

The long-term vision of Dubai’s construction industry is challenged by the need to reduce construction costs and improve building’s sustainability. Understanding the important drivers to aid the decision making from the options and available construction methodology is extremely important to develop the most efficient super tall building design.

The presentation aims to share the vast experience from the last 10 - 15 years of being heavily involved in the design of numerous super tall building design with the hope that future leaders would be able to understand and make better informed decision to develop the modern urban design in the region and beyond.

The talk aims to share the design process of super-tall tower design together with 3 distinct case studies that revolve around:

  • Business Case
  • Functional Layout
  • Construction System
  • Available construction material
  • Environmental Effects
  • Lateral Stability
  • Occupant comfort
