The Worshipful Company of Paviors in conjunction with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Imperial College London and the Institution of Civil Engineers present: The Thames Tideway Tunnel: Building Infrastructure for a 22nd Century London, the 45th Annual Paviors’ Lecture.
The Guest Speaker will be Andy Mitchell CBE, Chief Executive Officer at Thames Tideway Tunnel. In his talk, Andy will outline the background to the Thames Tideway Tunnel project. Building on the legacy of the original Victorian sewer network created by Sir Joseph Bazalgette over 150 years ago, Andy will chart the course of the project and explain how the delivery of this vital piece of new infrastructure will help prepare London for the 22nd century.
Admission to the lecture is free of charge but those planning to attend, who are not Liverymen, are asked to register.
Andy has worked as a Chief Executive Officer at Tideway since 2014. He has a vast experience managing high-profile projects, both in the United Kingdom and overseas. After 12 years working in the United Arab Emirates, France and South Africa, as well as, on major developments, such as Hong Kong Airport and the Hong Kong West Rail, he joined Network Rail in 2001.
He was Project Director for Network Rail’s Southern Power Upgrade project and was also the Major Programme Director of the Thameslink Programme. He also worked as a Programme Director and board member at Crossrail.
Andy is a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, former Chair of the Infrastructure Industry Innovation Platform (i3P), and the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG) and, more recently, became Co-chair of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC). He was awarded the CBE for his services to Civil Engineering.
