The Scottish Government announced in 2011 proposals to dual the A9 trunk road between Perth and Inverness by 2025, in the largest investment in Scotland's infrastructure to date.
The A9 provides a strategic link between the Highlands and the central belt, passing through some of Scotland's wildest and most spectacular countryside, including the Cairngorms National Park, and much of the route is heavily designated in environmental terms.
The route was divided into three major design contracts and this technical lecture will provide an insight into some of the key technical and environmental challenges in the development of the design and its future construction.
Come along to this event and hear from representatives of Jacobs, CH2M Fairhurst Joint Venture, and Atkins Mouchel Joint Venture, discuss key aspects including their approach to threading a new dual carriageway through highly constrained areas such as Drumochter Pass and the Slochd.
Refreshments from 5.30pm. Short AGM at 6.00pm followed by the lecture.
This event is being broadcast online. Please join the lecture up to 15 minutes before the start time of 6.30pm.
